Sometimes we hear a familiar quote or voice and instantly know where it’s from, but how can we discern God’s voice in the midst of all the noise around us?
Read
1 Samuel 3
Discussion Questions
How does Samuel initially respond to God's call? Why do you think he mistakes God’s voice for Eli’s? Have you ever been unsure if God is calling you to be used by Him?
What role does Eli play in Samuel’s recognition of God’s voice? Why is it important to have a Biblical community and mentors?
Read Psalm 119: 105. To hear from God, you must spend time with him and make space to listen. Do you spend quality time with God everyday? What does your quiet time look like? How would you like it to look?
God made it clear that Samuel’s calling was to become a prophet and to replace Eli. How can we know that God has a personal calling for each of us? Read Ephesians 2:10.
Read 2 Timothy 1:6-9. How does God equip us for the tasks He calls us to? What role does the Holy Spirit play in that?
Paul emphasizes that God’s calling is not based on our works but on His grace. Why is it important to remember that our calling is grace-based, not performance-based?
Read Proverbs 3:5-6 We often get caught up in trying to figure out that one big thing God is calling us to do, when in reality, what God desires most is our daily trust and obedience. What areas of your life do you feel God is calling you to step into right now? Are you fully trusting and obeying Him?
What challenges or fears might be holding you back from fully embracing His calling on your life?
Prayer
Challenge each person in the group to take a small, actionable step this week toward responding to God’s call. It can be signing up to serve, sharing the Gospel with someone, carving out intentional quiet time, or maybe walking towards or away from something. Spend time praying for God to help you follow through with what He is asking you to do this week.
Announcements
Small Group Leader, here are a few church announcements we would like you to share with your group this week.
Easter Baptism- On Easter weekend, we will be baptizing after each service. Encourage those in your group who have not yet taken the step of baptism to sign up. They can sign up at cfmiami.org/baptism.
Serve for Easter- In just a few weeks, we will have hundreds of first time guests flooding our church, many of which are far away from God. We have an opportunity to be part of the work that God is going to do in the hearts of many that weekend by serving. If there are people in your group who are not currently serving in a ministry, encourage them to sign up, even if just for Easter weekend. They can sign up to serve at cfmiami.org/serve.
Connect to Mission- Lastly, we have a special opportunity to serve our community and invite our neighbors to Easter service. Choose a serving opportunity as a group together at cfmiami.org/reachbeyond.
