Session 7
- What stood out to you the most from today’s teaching?
- Charles Spurgeon always made a point to “plow a trough back to the Gospel” at the end of any subject he was speaking on. Why is it important that we always bring back every area of our life to the Gospel?
- Read Galatians 1:6-10. With so many denominations, methods, and teachings within the church, why is it important that each of us measures every teaching against the Gospel?
- Why is it important that we do not view Scripture as a “self-help” book or ways of “how to” do certain things, but instead let the Gospel change us, restructure our hearts, and change our passion?
- Have you ever found yourself focusing more on theological doctrines and views, rather than the cross of Christ? Why is this dangerous?
- JD Greear stated, “I can’t develop love for God in my heart just by being more committed.” Why is this important to keep in mind as you serve in a ministry? How do we develop love for God?
- In what ways do we see Christ Fellowship as a “Gospel-Centered” church internally and across the community?
Recommended Book
Book Description
Could the gospel be lost in evangelical churches? In this book, J.D. Greear shows how moralism and legalism have often eclipsed the gospel, even in conservative churches. Gospel cuts through the superficiality of religion and reacquaints you with the revolutionary truth of God's gracious acceptance of us in Christ. The gospel is the power of God, and the only true source of joy, freedom, radical generosity, and audacious faith. The gospel produces in us what religion never could: a heart that desires God.
